Lucy’s Rare Cancer Research Funding
Donations contributed to Lucy’s Foundation may be distributed to a General research fund or a Specific rare cancer fund. General research funding will be directed to scientists studying new treatments or diagnostic tests for rare type cancers and additional funding restricted to a Specific type of rare cancer will also be considered and distributed. Specific rare cancer funding will be directed to a dedicated rare type cancer fund. Both efforts will require a minimum of forty thousand dollars to fund each grant. When this goal is achieved Lucy’s Foundation will begin the process of issuing a request for research proposals. Specific donations will be held in a dedicated rare cancer account directed for one specific form of rare cancer you chose until the required amount of forty thousand dollars or more is reached. If this amount has not been reached after 5 years we will distribute the funding to a general research fund that is related. After the goal is reached and additional donations have been created we may be asked for additional funds for ongoing research or start a new research proposal for specific and general grants. After our initial funding, research scientists can use the data they collected and apply for a larch multiyear government grant or they may attract a commercial sponsor who could request FDA approval to manufacture the product or treatment.
